    James E. Black

James married his girl Donna June Brown on November 20, 1942, and will celebrate their 50th anniversary in the fall. With their family of four children, seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren at the time of this writing they should have quite a celebration.

James served four years in the military- air force infantry, and after going overseas the  served in the artillery.

They moved to Oregon in 1947. James worked four years lumbering and one year in a green pea cannery. He then went to work for United States Gypsum Co. and worked for them for 30 years, mostly as a shift supervisor, retiring in 1986.

He had a heart attack in May of 1979 and had to have bypass surgery in July of that year.

After retirement he and his wife bought a 35 foot fifth-wheel trailer and they both enjoy traveling—especially to historic sites.  She and her husband have visited Custer Battlefield (twelve times), other Indian battlefields, Civil War battlefields, and sites along the Oregon Trail. We were touring Alaska at the time of our 45th anniversary reunion so were unable to attend. James also enjoys hunting and photography and of course the family.
